President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy invited a number of schoolchildren in the area to attend the performance. The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) was a British Army line infantry regiment from 1881 until 2006 when it became the 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine members of the Black Watch later returned to the White House at the request of Mrs. Kennedy to participate in the President\u2019s funeral procession from the White House to the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
